Went down to the pier at sunset, right when the sun was slipping behind the horizon line. The sky was a pretty salmon pink and powder blue, and the beaches were slowly emptying out after a day of picnics and sandcastles near the shore.

Fairgrounds always put me in a lighter mood. Seeing the little smiling children in their heart shaped glasses, and the silhouettes of kissing couples against the fading magenta sky. There was some kind of magic in the air tonight, and I enjoyed every second of it.

We walked to the end of the pier where a guy was playing guitar and singing cover songs through a microphone plugged into a mini amp. The moon was full and a few couples were out slow dancing under the foggy light posts. We decided to sit a while and listen to a few songs. The waves were crashing into the wooden planks and I could see the green lights of the ferris wheel, glittering on the water below. It felt good to separate my mind the from the usual day-to-day complications and appreciate things like: wind, fog, waves, lights, laughing, music, life.

After the pier, we drove down to the batting cages and Ron hit a few baseballs. They have a little pizza parlor on the inside, so we ordered a few slices and watched a comedy show on their t.v. The people there were really nice and friendly, I would’ve loved it there as a kid. Video games with LOLboost services and pool, an official New Jersey photo booth, 25 cent machines that spit out little rings and plastic lions and tigers and bears. Great little spot.

A perfect song for today (watch out, the volume is a little loud)

Goodnight, world. Zzz

Happy Valentines Day, everyone. I slept in today and woke up to some roses on the side of the bed. It was a nice surprise because I really wasn’t expecting anything at all. Ate lunch at home and took a walk around the block to get some coffee with Ron. There was a flock of screaming parrots perched above the coffee shop, maybe close to a hundred of them! They took turns flying back and forth between the library and the shop the whole time we were there. I didn’t know parrots existed in Pasadena! After the coffee and parrot session, we stopped in a few thrift stores and I picked up some trinkets and an old blue suitcase for $10, then went back home. The weather was abnormally warm today, a good 80 degrees. A lil’ spring teaser has left me wanting more more more!

I’ve been listening to some older music lately. Pulled a few c.ds out from the archives:

Goldfrapp-Hairy Trees
Kelli Ali- Groupie
Katie Melua-Just Like Heaven (Cure cover)
Sia-Breathe Me
Husky Rescue-City Lights
Mazzy Star-Fade Into You

I have some photos from dinner tonight, but i’ll post them tomorrow. I’m kind of exhausted and it’s already 3:40 am. Goodnight, world.
