I’m doing a little project with my sister- we’re calling it “wish you were here”. Basically, whenever we find ourselves wishing the other were with us to see/experience something, we’ll take a photo. Here’s what I have so far:

Dear Sister,

We drove to San Jose for Thanksgiving. On the way, I couldn’t stop thinking about how I flew home last Thanksgiving and how nice it was to spend it with our crazy family. Grandma’s turkey and homemade cheesecake, Mom’s favorite potato salad and teriyaki skewers, your stuffing and mashed potatoes, everyone laughing and laying out on the carpet in front of a muted television set. We were driving on the 5 freeway and I was wishing you were at least with me to see the intriguing nothingness of the I-5, it leaves you with a lot of time to ponder.

On Saturday, we drove up to Napa Valley to do some wine tastings. It reminded me of the time we went to 55 degree wine after your 21st birthday and got extremely sick.

These photos were from the Coppola winery. You would’ve liked the estate grounds and the vineyard. There was a fountain outside, which I failed to photograph. Ron took that photo of me looking dorky out front. If you were there, we could’ve done some jumping photos, like the ones we shot in Beverly Hills. Remember? That time we got Sprinkles Cupcakes, drove up to that old house and watched the sunset through the leaves. It was Summer, I think, and we sat out in the courtyard, eating and laughing. Such good times. Miss you!

    wow. the photos are amazing.

but even more so is the sentiment in your words. suddenly i am visiting all the holidays past that my mom had such a love for and always made so special for us. i missed her differently after reading this, and it hurts. it always hurts. but it’s the kind of hurt that comes of the best memories, you know?

    thanks for sharing this.

sweet project <3 I'm a sucker for sentimental things like this.
the shot of the 5 with the hills all around is my fave, and for people who haven't made that drive, you made it look so pretty ;)
