One of my favorite songs: The Decemberists-California One

Happy Valentines Day, everyone. I slept in today and woke up to some roses on the side of the bed. It was a nice surprise because I really wasn’t expecting anything at all. Ate lunch at home and took a walk around the block to get some coffee with Ron. There was a flock of screaming parrots perched above the coffee shop, maybe close to a hundred of them! They took turns flying back and forth between the library and the shop the whole time we were there. I didn’t know parrots existed in Pasadena! After the coffee and parrot session, we stopped in a few thrift stores and I picked up some trinkets and an old blue suitcase for $10, then went back home. The weather was abnormally warm today, a good 80 degrees. A lil’ spring teaser has left me wanting more more more!
I’ve been listening to some older music lately. Pulled a few c.ds out from the archives:
Goldfrapp-Hairy Trees
Kelli Ali- Groupie
Katie Melua-Just Like Heaven (Cure cover)
Sia-Breathe Me
Husky Rescue-City Lights
Mazzy Star-Fade Into You
I have some photos from dinner tonight, but i’ll post them tomorrow. I’m kind of exhausted and it’s already 3:40 am. Goodnight, world.

Mazzy Star-Flowers In December
Chungking-I Love You
The Mary Onettes-Explosions
Will Stratton-Who Will
Radiohead-How To Disappear Completely
Milosh-In These Arms
Some of these songs are old. Just a few of my favorites that have been frequenting my playlists lately. I love Milosh, I still have a bunch of his songs from when I was living at home in Hawaii. Reminds me of afternoons spent at the park, alone, watching the clouds and listening to music for hours. Here’s another good Milosh song: The City.
I’ve been pretty busy lately, working from home and on a few side projects. From my desk, I can watch the rain fall against the balcony outside. That pretty much sums up the past few weeks for me. Rain and work. I’m hoping to maybe get out this weekend and take a few photos, maybe even get some film developed if there’s time to spare. I still have some Holga film I haven’t developed since Big Bear, back in July! It’s Velvia though, and the photo lab I go to close by, doesn’t develop Velvia. Sadness! So, pretty sure I’m gonna have to wait on that one and head to Hollywood, once I find enough time and money. Seems like a lot of people are having that problem lately? Not enough money + time.
Also, I’m trying to work on my 52 week project and update this little blog more. It would be nice to look back on an archived year and travel back in time to those little moments. Hopefully i’ll have some photos to post by Monday (or sooner??). We will see. Have a good weekend. : )

I’m baaack. Back from visiting family and friends on Oahu. It was nice to be home briefly, spend time with my family during Thanksgiving, and be able to hang out with a few good friends. It is also nice to be back home here in LA after 3 weeks of living out of a suitcase. Just something about coming home to your own space. Is that just me?
My dad burnt me a copy of Gabby Pahinui’s “Pure Gabby” to give me some music to remind me of home. It reminds me of being a little kid, going to luaus down at our aunt Beatrice’s house in Kahana Bay. I just tried searching for a youtube or mp3 online of “Hi’ilawe” but couldn’t find one by Gabby. Here’s one by Israel Kamakawiwi`ole. It’s just as good.
Have a good Sunday evening.

This past weekend went by too fast and I didn’t really get a chance to do the things I planned on doing. I did however, get a chance to relax and listen to music in the sanctuary of our little apartment. Here’s a short list of what i’ve been listening to over the past few days.
———-
-Where Would You Be-Yaw (Love this song)
-We Almost Lost Detroit – Jackson (and a live version here)
-Love & Money – Bronski Beat
-Inner City Blues – Marvin Gaye
-Two-Fer Number 1 – Christine Perfect
-Fallin’ Down-Julian Dyne feat. Parks
Have a great remainder of the week!
