Hi there!

I feel like it’s been forever since i’ve updated. I’ve been busy and really, just taking the worst photos imaginable. I guess I’m in one of those phases again. Shot off a bunch of Polaroids and wasted them allll. Well, all except for this lone grapefruit. The weird thing is, I feel really inspired but when I take a photo, it comes out all wrong. I think I need to take a break. Relax. Enjoy. Read a book. Clear my mind a little.

On a happier note: This weekend is July 4th! Fireworks, food, fun! Do you have anything planned? I’m so excited to go out and enjoy the warm pretty weather.

A Song for Wednesday.

Happy Friday!

I’ve been really busy lately so I’m keeping it short again. Hopefully you have something nice planned for the weekend. I’m trying to get a lot done tomorrow so we can go out and play at least ONE day.

Photos taken in Malibu.

We drove down to Malibu to enjoy the warm weather and ended up watching people fish on the pier. One guy caught a big fish and everyone gathered around while he reeled it in. I shot a few Polaroids with my Spectra but then it jammed and I lost pretty much the whole pack of film. I hate when that happens.

It was nice just leaning over the railings and watching the water again. Something so relaxing about sitting by the ocean and doing absolutely nothing. I guess that’s why we end up driving to the beach so much.

I like this cover of Fever Ray’s “When I Grow Up”.

These are from my last trip home. November-December 2009.

We’re going home in August, probably only for a week or so but it’s exciting and scary. I miss my parents and my friends and my sister, but am not looking forward to the plane ride. Noo, no. Looking at these photos makes me miss home so much, I honestly cannot wait.

I’m also starting a personal project. It’s a 365 day (eek) project but in a paper journal. I’m thinking of starting it on my birthday, which is coming up in July. At least one photo a day for 365 days and a short or long handwritten entry, to document this next year of my life. I’m sure it’s going to be really hard but it’ll also be a lot of fun to look back on. Wish me luck! I’m excited.

Hope your day is going well. I’m on my way to drop off a roll of film.

The ferris wheel we rode in Newport / Instax

Hi! Can’t believe the weekend is over, I feel like it just started and now it’s somehow Monday.

Remember that list I made on Friday? Well I finished some of it, but not all, which I was expecting. I did go running and shot a roll of film and got out of the house and almost finished editing a wedding but didn’t even come close to seeing a movie or replanting my poor lil’ succulents. That’ll happen soon, hopefully.

I’ve been writing more in my paper diary, just little notes here and there. It feels good to be writing for myself again. I came across this image on flickr and it brought me back to some good times, writing and traveling with friends. No bills, no obligations, life felt so light and free. Ah…to be young : )

Something i’d love to own:  this red skirt. And everything else on Emersonmade .

A few things I want + thought were cute on Etsy:

Wooden Sunglasses, Concrete Moss Trio, Stacking Rings,

Leather Seraphine Sandals In Nude + Burgundy, Brass Glass Cases

Have a good weekend.

After the beach on Sunday, we went to Balboa Island and hung out along the water. We stopped in a candy shop and bought Dubble Bubble, lollipops, cigarette gum, Gold Mine Nugget gum, jelly beans and some sweet tart candies shaped like dog bones.

I found some old 25 cent machines and used a dollar trying to get a toy taco out of a machine labeled “Taco Time Menu”. I think that middle toy is a burrito (in the last picture) but I could be wrong.

The sun was slowly setting behind the restaurants and we decided on a whim to ride the ferris wheel. Ron didn’t seem too enthusiastic about how old and rickety the ride was and asked me how I could ride on an old ferris wheel but not in a plane. Good question.

We moved over to the pier after the ride and watched the sunset on the water- hundreds of sparkling little diamonds glittering in one long straight line. I could spend hours on piers, just watching the waves crash up against the wooden pillars, over and over.

Hopefully we’ll get back to the beach soon. I’m so happy the weather has been warm and sunny!

Have a great Thursday.

“If your house was burning, what would you take with you? It’s a conflict between what’s practical, valuable and sentimental. What you would take reflects your interests, background and priorities. Think of it as an interview condensed into one question.”

So happy to be included in this awesome project by Foster Huntington. He also has a great blog with lots of amazing photos. Check it out if you have time: A Restless Transplant.

Hello!

These are all from Newport Beach. Ron wanted to go surfing, so we drove down and I sat and read on the sand. The sky was bright blue and clear and there was a light salty wind. Yes, I was wearing jeans on the beach while everyone was in their bikinis and cute little denim shorts. I never know exactly how cold it’s going to be so I just wear jeans.

Still really busy so I’m keeping it short. Have a great week!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

These are the last of the Palm Springs photos. I’ve been slammed with work lately, so I haven’t had time to really write anything or find fun links on the internet. I dropped off a roll of film to the lab today, hopefully i’ll have some photos to post on Monday.

I have a wedding this weekend and am excited for that! What are you up to this weekend? Hope it’s something fun. Have a good one : )
