Archive for January, 2011

Today’s the last day of January. I developed a roll of film and found these two photos, which were taken back in July when we visited Catalina for our anniversary. It was at a little place that sold Hawaiian food with seats that reminded me of my mom’s old restaurant job when I was young, “The Buccaneer”. We had a few drinks and I ordered some french onion soup and french fries that were served up in a red and white checkered basket.

Hello. I’ve been busy again, and the 1/2 used roll of film is still sitting in my camera. Don’t know if i’ll get to develop it by the weekend, so here are a couple photos from a while back.

I created a Facebook business page for my wedding photography last night. I’m just posting links to the latest weddings, engagements and portrait sessions on there. In case anyone is on Facebook and wants to follow along.

Husky Rescue – Rainbow Flows (making me happy today)

These are a bunch of random photos from that b&w roll I shot. My little sister, trip to the ocean, oranges in my kitchen, camellia flower and a nice winter sunset.

I had a long weekend. Didn’t take many photos, so I still have 1/2 a roll sitting in my camera waiting to be shot. I stayed up late working on my new wedding photography blog. Bigger photos and a cleaner layout: Wedding Blog

I also came across Steven Alan’s Spring 2011 collection! I want almost every single thing in there! I keep looking at it trying to figure out what I want the most, but I can’t decide. I want it all.

Hi, world. I finally got out of the house on Sunday, after being stuck indoors with that little plague I contracted. It was nice to get out and see the world, and plus, it was 84 degrees! Sitting at the park, enjoying the sun and light wind, reminded me of summer. I brought my Rolleiflex with me and shot a roll of film (above).

I was going to post a bunch of entries this week but guess what? I got sick! I’ve been laying on the couch in an oversized millennium falcon tee, watching Madmen, trashy reality shows, eating jello and sucking on cough drops for the past few days. What a visual.

On another note, thank you so much for all the comments on my last post. I think I’m going to take Ashley’s advice and take up a class. I tried a sewing class last year in the summer but little 8 yr old girls were sewing circles around me. One even laughed in my face when I was the last to finish a simple stitch. Maybe I should give it another chance? I started to look for calligraphy classes, but there’s aren’t many, or I’m just searching in all the wrong places. I’m excited to try something new, outside of photography, just to give myself some balance. Thanks again for all the comments, I completely know how it feels to be stuck in a slump, uninspired!

Above are some photos taken around Christmas. We were driving around in the rain and a tiny tent on the side of the road caught our eye. Maybe it was the carny lights? I love carny lights. Anyway, we ended up buying a tree in the rain from the little tent and lugging it back to our apartment, soaking wet. We cooked that night and drank a little and I remember thinking how nice of a day it was, despite how gloomy the weather was.

Probably won’t be going out and doing anything this weekend because of this plague I caught. I think maybe the trashy reality, Mad Men and cough drops will continue for a few more days. Hope everyone has a good weekend! Enjoy it for me : )

More b&w film photos from that drive we took along the coast.

Feeling a little stuck in my own routine. Thinking of maybe looking for a class or workshop to take to keep my mind busy/distracted. Do you ever feel like that? Bored of your own photos or art or cooking or daily routines? Trying to find a way to break out of my comfort zones, but I’m realizing it’s a little harder than I thought.

Liking this song.

Thinking of trying this adorable little diy project that I found over on Ida’s blog (via design*sponge)

Got a roll of 120 film developed from my Holga. I just shot a bunch of random things on the pier and at the beach in Laguna…or was it Dana Point? I can’t really remember, exactly.

My sister just left this morning. She was here for a little under a week and it’s been really nice hanging out, laughing with her. We did a bunch of my favorite things: Shop, eat, drink, laugh. I didn’t take many photos but what I did take, i’ll post once they’re developed.

Getting back into the swing of things, catching up on work and other things related. Looking for some new music, which has been somewhat of a task for me lately. I’ve still been on a Ray Lamontagne kick. Bought an older album of his “Gossip In The Grain”. I love every single song! Really wish I could see him live but he’s on a European tour AND I JUST MISSED A SHOW IN SEPT HERE AT THE GREEK THEATER! Kicking myself for that one.

Hope everyone is having a good week.
