Happy Weekend!
Who’s excited to relax? I know I am..

Thinking about buying a new succulent plant for my windowsill. I’m also slacking on replanting the ones I have basking in the sun, now.
Also, i’ve been staring at this cute SAMMA T-Bar Necklace over at Damahoka. If I finally go back and decide to buy it, but it’s gone, I’m gonna blame it on me posting it here! Either way, it’s super cute and someone will be happy.
A wonderful song.

A quick post amidst the craziness.
Cake makes the days better, right?
A song that I’m loving: Sleep Over – La Rose

Few things right off the bat: I love the way my sister is holding her margarita in the first photo. Unique, no? I am also floored by thee fried burrito at Mijares down in Pasadena. They make the best margaritas and that burrito is amazing.
I finally finished updating my wedding blog. I posted Part I and Part II of an Engagement session I shot down at Union Station, Los Angeles a few weekends ago. It made sense to do the shoot there because the soon-to-be bride and groom are always traveling. The bride-to-be travels for work and the groom-to-be is always touring with his band. We thought it would be a romantic and fun little excursion on the train and in the train station.
Check it out here if you want/have time.
Hope your week is going well.

I’m still going through the Catalina trip photos from a few weeks back. This was of our little hotel room, which was super cute and cozy. We stayed at the Zane Grey Pueblo hotel. The view immediately sold me and we booked it right away. The hotel is perched up top a side mountain, overlooking all of Avalon. You get the best views and it’s extremely peaceful. We even seen a deer (right outside our window) on the last night there, I was lucky enough to snap a photo.
Here’s a bit of history on Zane Grey the author + filmmaker. The hotel was actually once his home, and being there, I could just imagine him writing old westerns from the patio, watching clouds and fog roll away over the mountain tops in the mornings.
Also, did you know there’s BUFFALO in Catalina??! I didn’t get a chance to see them but there are 250 buffalo that were brought over in the 1920′s for Zane Grey’s movie version of his book “The Vanishing American”. I guess when they realized how much it was going to cost to transport the buffalo back, they just left them there. There are buffalo tours which range from $75-$99. That was a little out of our price range but hopefully one day…

We baked a cake today. The original plan was to make it on Thursday but we didn’t have enough time.
I’ve been editing photos all day to early 90′s R&B music. A little time travel back to the days of Z Cavariccis, Cross Colors, Bongo shorts, Flojos, Perms, Hypercolor t-shirts, D’Angelo, Jodeci, Boyz 2 Men, mixtapes and the list just keeps going.
I’m getting my hair done (straightened) tomorrow, finally. It’s been over 4 years since i’ve done it and it’s time to put the frizz to rest.
A few of my favorite early 90′s R&B songs
————————————
- Jodeci – Forever My Lady
- SWV – Weak
- Babyface – When Can I See You
- Aaliyah – At Your Best
- Boyz 2 Men – End Of The Road
- Keith Sweat – I’ll Give All My Love To You
- Brian McKnight – Anytime
- En Vogue – Giving Him Something He Can Feel
- H-town – Knockin The Boots
- Mokenstef – He’s Mine
-Deborah Cox – Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here
- New Edition – I’m Still In Love With You
- Xscape – Work Me Slow
- Keith Martin – Never Find Someone Like You
(Does anyone remember any of these?)

#1 guilty pleasure: FRENCH FRIES
I really can’t live without them, which I know is totally bad but I can’t help it! Can someone please open a french fry shop or food truck in LA that makes gourmet fries? I’ll end this rant right now before I get out of hand.
What’s everyone doing today? I’m going to the movies and baking a cake. Hope the weekend treats you right.

My sister left today after 5 days of relaxation. Last night we went to the fair for my birthday and rode rides and ate pizza and took a lot of photos. We also had a lot of fun and I ended up buying a little rock (strange and random fact, I know) with purple crystals all over the top of it for $1. Not sure why I bought it but it’s pretty and I like seeing it up on my windowsill while I work.
I let my work pile up again into a ridiculous cyber mound, so now I’m up till the wee hours, trying to hack it down. I have a lot of photos to share here, so I’ll be back again soon. Probably tomorrow.
For now, I’m gonna try to get some sleep. G’night, world. Zzz
(Photo at top is from Catalina)

Sorry I haven’t been posting anything lately. My sister is here visiting till Friday and we’ve been running around enjoying time together, which has been so, so nice! I haven’t seen her in over 6 months- far too long to be away from a best friend.
These photos are from today at the observatory. We drove down and walked up that long snaking hill to the front of the observatory entrance. Perfect weather, wind, girl time, lunch outside in the sun with a view of the Hollywood sign, and I only took ONE camera. It felt nice only having one camera with me, I should really do that more often.
Tonight we’re going to eat Mexican food, drink margaritas and hang out in Santa Monica. I’m so happy to be spending time with my little sister! I hope you’re having a great week. More photos soon.

This week kinda flew by. I’m having a pretty busy weekend with a shoot downtown and my little sister visiting on Sunday! She’s flying stand by, so I’m hoping to god she’ll be able to get out. Summer is usually the worst time to fly stand by, or so i’ve learned over the years. When I was little, my mom and I would fly back and forth between Denver and Honolulu for my dad (he took a job with the airlines and was stationed up at Stapleton). Anyway, I remember having to dress up and wait around for 2 seats to open up. Running from one place to the next, praying we wouldn’t get stuck overnight in a terminal. It did happen a few times though, sleeping on bags and airport seats, overnight. I stick with paid tickets nowadays to avoid the anxiety.
-Photo above was taken in Catalina at the Wrigley Memorial.
-Leaving for the weekend, with this wonderful music video shot from the iphone4. It was produced by Marty Martin, with the help of Steve Failows (Flakjakt). Download it here on Bandcamp.
Have a good one!
